“It is important for football - for everybody who loves the game - that everyone has a fair chance,” Wenger said.
“I believe football has a job to do in the coming years so that it’s not just the pushing [of] money into the sport by some billionaires.
“A long time ago, when you look at the history of English football, everybody could win the Premier League.
“We have gone to the modern business period where that’s not possible anymore.
“I feel, in general, football has to come back to give priority to the game, to the quality of work inside a club and give everybody a better chance.
“Football has become a little bit [about] who buys the next star and not anymore about the quality of a guy who develops people inside the club, the quality of the play, the consistency of an attitude inside a club.
“It’s a bit like tomorrow you starting the 100m and suddenly somebody buys Usain Bolt and you have to win against him. I don’t know how quick you are but it will be a problem for you.”

Very melancholic statement but football will most likely not return the old ways.
